Taxes and Fees When Owning Property in Spain

What taxes and fees apply when owning a property in Spain?

As a property owner in Spain, you’ll be responsible for the annual IBI (property tax), garbage collection fees, and possibly community charges if your property is part of a development. If you rent out the property, income tax applies. Non-residents must also pay a small annual tax, even if the property remains unused.

Sun Properties Marbella works closely with tax professionals who assist our international clients in understanding and managing both Spanish and home-country obligations. You can also read our guide to rental taxation here.
