Marbella's Population Surpasses 165,000: Insights and Developments

Population Growth in Marbella

Marbella, a city known for its vibrant culture and scenic beauty

The town has recently been the subject of population statistics that highlight its growing community. According to "marbella24horas", just a week after the National Institute of Statistics (INE) set the official population of Marbella at 156,295 as of January 1, 2023, the Marbella City Council has released its own figure, stating that the population has reached 165,871 as of January 1, 2024. This figure, though unofficial, is expected to be adjusted by the INE in a year's time.

Official vs Unofficial Figures

The National Institute of Statistics (INE) is the official body responsible for establishing population figures across Spain. According to their last revision of the municipal register, Marbella had 156,295 residents as of January 1, 2023. This number is the official count for 2024, despite the local government's higher estimate.

Municipal spokesperson, Javier García, explained that the current population of 165,871 will be subject to review by the INE in a year. If confirmed, this represents an increase of 9,576 from the current official figure, which itself had seen a rise of 5,570 people in the last year.

Diverse Community

During a press conference, it was highlighted that the municipality is home to 153 different nationalities. The most significant foreign nationalities registered in Marbella include the United Kingdom (5,486 residents), Morocco (5,177), Ukraine (4,516), Colombia (3,712), and Russia (3,319).

Governance and Development Initiatives

Housing and Infrastructure Developments

The Local Government Board has approved a license for the construction of three single-family homes in San Pedro Alcántara, amounting to over 900,000 euros. Additionally, the meeting covered various topics in the correspondence and official dispositions section.

One key topic was the tender by the General Directorate of Roads for noise action plan in the second phase of the AP-7, specifically in the Marbella bypass section from kilometer point 175 to 183.

Strategic Plans and Local Support

The meeting also discussed the approval of various strategic subsidy plans from the Ministry of Social Inclusion, Economy and Finance, and European Funds. Furthermore, there was an announcement of a call for aid for local traders, indicating a commitment to supporting the local economy.
